CATHY FARR

Through a love of stories – from listening to them, reading them and writing them – I’m now here to help you to write creatively or for everyday writing.

WHO IS CATHY?

I have always loved words; listening to them, reading them and writing with them. Be it a letter of complaint, a press release for my local newspaper, or a full blown novel: the pleasure for me is not just making words make sense but making them sound right.

It was my first Irish Wolfhound, Finn, who provided much of the inspiration for my story writing. Known as Gentle Giants, full-grown wolfhounds stand as tall as a kitchen unit and usually weigh around 90-95kg (14+ stone); I stand 5ft 7inches tall but my weight remains a closely guarded secret!

Because words don’t come as easily to everyone, I have adapted my first two novels, Moon Chase and Moon Crossing, for less confident readers and worked closely with Afasic Cymru, a charity set up specifically for children with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), to make sure I got them right. Known as Bridge Readers, they are used in schools for ESL and SEN children and I’ve also written workbooks to accompany both stories to help the learning process.

Whether it’s for work or for pleasure, I always try to write the best I can, and now I am working with others to help them do the same.

I am a member of the Society of Authors and am also proud to be on the Literature Wales Writers on Tour list.
