The Bridge Writing Teacher’s Took Kit comprises of a range of tried and tested ideas and activities designed to raise literacy standards in class and give teachers and pupils the confidence to tackle creative writing in a truly creative and constructive way.
The twenty-three ready-made lessons in this tool kit have been developed by writer and teacher, Cathy Farr, who has spent the last eighteen months trialling her approach in over 100 class-based workshops (predominantly in Years 5 & 6: lower through to higher ability children). Covering a range of literacy criteria including sentence construction, sustained writing, completion of extended work and adventurous (and appropriate) vocabulary, pupils develop skills across a range of genres and write with a mature voice that really does help children to secure the required levels for their year – and often higher.
